PurposeThe Memorial Scholarship Program was created to perpetually fund scholarships for graduate and undergraduate urban and regional planning students in Michigan.
The program has recented been expanded to provide funding to train elected and appointed officials in Michigan.
Funding The Scholarship Committee holds and annual fundraiser, the Annual Golf Outing generally the first or second Thursday in June.
ScholarshipThe scholarship is offered once a year, and the application is due the last Friday in April. The scholarship committee reviews all applications received and awards scholarships at the Annual Conference in the fall.
EligibilityMemorial Student Scholarship ProgramYou must be a member of Michigan Association of Planning (student membership is $15).
You must be enrolled at a Michigan College or University at in an urban or regional planning program or related curriculum with an emphasis on land use planning.
You must fill out the application and include a typewritten essay of one to two pages describing your reasons for pursuing a degree in land use planning and how it will benefit planning in Michigan.

Elected and Appointed Officials Scholarship ProgramYou must be a member of Michigan Association of Planning (either as an individual member or as part of a group membership).
You must be an elected official(s), planning commissioner(s), or zoning board of appeals member(s) (staff/employees not eligible for the scholarship).
You must fill out the application and a typewritten statement of one to two pages in length addressing several questions including: the financial need of your community; a history of your community’s continuing education training; and current land use and planning issues facing your community.
