Road Ends

Washington Street road end · Washington Beach, Ironton, MI

Road ends are valuable assets for communities wanting to manage the preservation of their waters and provide recreational opportunities.  A Michigan public road ends law from 2012 explains how road ends can be used and developed.  A public dock may be constructed so long as it is not used at night and does not block access to the water.  Private docks are prohibited.  Communities should work with their local Road Commission and neighboring property owners to prevent conflicts over use of the road end and ensure public access to the water.
