Big Beaver Road

Originally, Big Beaver Road was very purposefully guided by the City to be an office district and retail destination. Only office buildings were permitted, except for Somerset Collection Mall. In 2006, the Big Beaver Corridor Study ump started a series of planning, zoning and economic development initiatives that delivered the required tools to transform the Corridor, including Big Beaver Form-Based District. Since adoption, the Big Beaver Form-Based District transformed the Big Beaver Road into a more pedestrian-friendly, mixed-use destination, with approximately 40 site plans approved in the corridor since 2011.
