CEDAM's Rural Real Estate Development Boot Camp
Marquette
CEDAM is hosting its second-ever Rural Real Estate Development Boot Camp! CEDAM is excited to take the 2025 Rural Boot Camp to Marquette September 15-19, 2025.
Hosting this training in the Upper Peninsula will give CEDAM access to not only a beautiful environment in which to learn, but local developers, municipal leaders, and agency partners ready to lend their expertise.
What is Rural Boot Camp?
CEDAM's Rural Real Estate Development Boot Camp is a multi-part training program designed to give you the tools needed to develop attainable housing in your rural community or small town. From rising construction costs to new funding sources, CEDAM's training curriculum is updated each year to provide context around the current real estate development landscape in Michigan. CEDAM brings in experienced speakers from across the state to discuss practical applications of this work, with a special focus on the challenges and opportunities in rural places.
Anyone is welcome to register for this training who is interested in understanding the development process, however, the training curriculum is geared toward helping participants move their community-focused real estate development projects forward. All participants are encouraged to bring a potential project (whether it be a potential site or building, or even just an idea) to the training.
The target audience is:
- Community members who are interested in revitalizing their community through small-scale development projects
- Nonprofit housing development staff who may be seeking to actualize a range of affordable housing and community development projects utilizing LIHTC or other sources.
CEDAM's secondary target audience is:
- City staff officials, community partners, foundations, or others who may be involved in the development process in some capacity
Whether you are new to the field or need a refresher on the basics, this training is for you! Those who join the training and do not have a potential project will have the opportunity to collaborate with those who do when learning is applied through a final project pitch to funders.
